The chairperson of the electoral commission NRM Tang Odoi on Tuesday at the NRM offices called on all members of parliament elect that belong to the National Resistance Movement (NRM) that want to take part in the race for speakership to put in their applications before Friday.
Tang Odoi made an open invite to whoever had got done with their swearing, was free to bring in their application and that the deadline was on Thursday.
Yesterday the woman member of parliament elect of Kamuli district and former speaker of parliament Rebecca Kadaaga was seen at the NRM offices to put in her application for speaker of parliament.
Kadaaga after taking her oath fully became the woman member of parliament of Kamuli district making her a qualified candidate for speakership in the NRM party.
Another member of parliament that came in for the race was Anite Among who represents Bukedeya district.
Today as the swearing ceremony went on, Jacob Oulanya also took his oath and is expected to go in to apply for speakership in the NRM party.
It is known that the top 2 contenders of this post are in the NRM party and Jacob Oulanya and Rebecca Kadaaga and outside NRM is Forum Democratic Party’s Ssemuju Nganda . The National Resistance Movement is expected to cast their votes tomorrow on Friday to decide on who represents them in parliament for the speakership post.
