Part of the sworn in MP’s are some of the National Unity Platform(NUP) member who were expected by the public to turn down the swearing in because their party president Robert Kyagulanyi disagreed with the results of this election saying it was rigged by the president and Electoral Commission chairperson Simon Byabakama.
Some of those who agreed with him fully was member of Parliament elect of Kampala Central Shamim Malende, who was seen in a certain interview saying she will not take any oath if her party candidate is not sworn in as president of Uganda.
Malende yesterday decided to eat her words as she was seen taking her oath as the Kampala Central member of parliament. She was later criticized by people of the public saying these people(NUP) have started eating their words already.
Shamim Malende sworn in as the member of parliament elect of Kampala central yesterday and this is said to be encouraged by the president of NUP Robert Kyagulanyi who told them to swear in as they were voted into office to serve the society and it is the only way they will serve their.
Some of the NUP mp’s-elect who were sworn in include Joel Ssenyonyi the party’s spokesperson for Nakawa west, Bashir Kazibwe for Kawempe south,Alysious Mukasa for Rubaga South, Betty Nambooze for Mukono municipality, Medard Ssegona for Busiro East and many more are expected to swear in today like Muhamed Ssegirinya.
