Police have questioned the leaders of the newly formed coalition of the people’s front transition against holding illegal and unlawful demonstrations which are against the law they won’t allow them to happen.
It should be noted that during the launch and unveiling of this new coalition last week at JEEMA party headquarters in Mengo, former FDC presidential candidate retired Col Dr Kiiza Besigye who was appointed the president announced they are planning to hold different activities in the coming three weeks.
Fred Enanga the police spokesperson warned that police will not allow such activities to take place.
” We are aware as police and sister security agencies of information about the plans by the newly formed people front transition to hold unlawful assembles , meetings in markets and other public places country wide although it
is a fundamental right Ugandans to peacefully assemble, all assembles are still restricted under the public health orders in place due to existence of Covid 19 in the country and we therefore respect right of people to assemble only if we have the full proof of their clearance from the ministry of health on health and safety grounds “,Enanga said.
