The democratic party has today realized guidelines to it’s members who wish to join East African Legislative Assembly to replace Mukasa Mbidde who has been among the nine members of parliament representing Uganda on the democratic ticket.
Mukasa Mbidde has been at the EALA for the last ten years but the legislative assembly laws prohibit him from going back to the legislative assembly.
Addressing a news conference at the party headquarters Gerald Siranda the secretary general to the party revealed that they have opened up the nomination exercise of the do member who will replace Mukasa Mbidde at the EALA and asked the intending members to pick up nomination forms from the party headquarters.
Siranda noted that all candidates will be required to pay a non refundable fee of 500,000 shs when picking forms. Gerald Siranda also noted that all candidates must be seconded by members of national executive committee of the party as one of guidelines to the candidates.
“Candidates must get at least two people to second them first to get a NEC member to nominate you , and other NEC member to second you because the college of this election is the members of national executive committee”, Siranda said
